Do I need prior experience to take your courses?

No experience? No problem. Many of our courses (like Level 1 handgun, rifle, and home defense) are designed for beginners. We’ll walk you through everything step-by-step in a safe, supportive environment.

Do I need to have a concealed carry permit to train with you?

Only our Concealed Carry courses require that you already have your permit. All other courses are open to anyone — even if it’s your first time handling a firearm.

What should I wear or bring to class?

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. We recommend pants with belt loops if you're using a holster. If you have your own gear or firearm, feel free to bring it — otherwise gear is available to rent and ammo is available for purchase. We would also recommend bringing a packed lunch with snacks - there aren’t a lot of options for food near the range.

Can I use my own gun or gear?

Yes! You’re welcome to bring your own firearm, ammo, and holster setup. If you don’t own your gear yet, you may rent it while supplies last and ammo is available for purchase at the range.

What makes your training different?

At TDS, we focus on real-world, scenario-based training — not just shooting at paper standing still. You’ll learn how to think under pressure, make smart decisions, move with purpose. We offer advanced drills that simulate actual defensive encounters so you can be prepared.

Is this safe? What safety measures are in place?

Safety is our #1 priority. All students receive a thorough safety briefing before training begins, and all exercises are supervised by experienced instructors and range safety officers. We take safety seriously — and we keep it fun.

Where are you located?

We are based out of Leesburg, Virginia. We host our level 1 Handgun and Rifle classes in Leesburg, as well as our simulator range rental. All other classes are in Hedgesville, WV (about an hour away) at Shadow Hawk Defense. You can check the location for your class when booking.

How do I book a class or private event?
